Scholarship offered by Foundation for Rural Service
Money available $75,000 nationwide / $2,500 per student
Entry deadline Postmarked by March 1, 2012
Qualified applicants must
• Be a graduating high school senior.
• Be a United States citizen.
• Receive any telecommunications service from a current NTCA member (MTA), except for students sponsored by an associate member company.
• Be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
• Have at least a C grade point average (GPA).
• Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation.

Money available $10,000 statewide

Qualified applicants must
1. Be sponsored by an Active or Associate ATA Member (MTA).
2. Have been a resident of Alaska for not less than four (4) years, or have attended school in Alaska for at least two (2) years.
3. Have demonstrated success in an academic or vocational field.
4. Plan to attend an accredited post-secondary school or training program for at least one year.
5. Official transcript must be included with application.
6. Applications must be submitted to the ATA office via us mail, courier or in person. Email copies and fax copies are not acceptable.

ROOT SPORTS™ AND MTA ANNOUNCE THEIR CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP
BELLEVUE, WA & ANCHORAGE, AK – (November 18, 2011) – ROOT SPORTS™ and MTA (Matanuska Telephone Association) today announced the renewal of their carriage agreement. The partnership will ensure that ROOT SPORTS™, including Live and Replayed Seattle Mariners, Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders FC, various college football and basketball games, and additional programming is available to customers in the Greater Anchorage area. MTA subscribers can find ROOT SPORTS™ on channel 32 and in HD on channel 832. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

The extension of our agreement is significant as it will enable sports fans in Alaska to follow their favorite Northwest teams,” stated Mark Jorgensen, Senior Vice President & General Manager of ROOT SPORTS™.
With this new agreement, MTA subscribers will be able to watch all Mariners games for the 2012 season. The games will be available in both standard definition and high definition.
